(based on 16 reviews)

kathmandu-pokhara-mountain-bike

This is a fantastic cycling tour across Nepal's countryside. This journey will allow you to experience the local way of life, landscape, and culture, among other things. All the way to Pokhara, the terrain is extremely mountainous, making for a lot of up and down riding. The Kathmandu-Pokhara cycling tour is one of the most exhilarating bicycle excursions in Nepal. This journey is a breathtaking ride where you will discover numerous historical towns and attractive villages, as well as a breathtaking panorama of nature and mountains.

Please note that vehicle support will be provided on this tour. This is pure mountain riding adventure, thus you are not obliged to bring anything. The car will be loaded with your items. The terrain throughout our journey is somewhat difficult, so the car takes an alternate path and trails us during the day. The van will arrive before us in the evening to set the camp before we arrive.

Program Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Nepal.

When you arrive at Tibhuvan International Airport, our guide will pick you up and take you to your hotel in the bustling Thamel district of Kathmandu. Depending on your arrival time, you can choose to relax for the next journey, see the city's attractions, or shop for adventure gear in one of Kathmandu's many adventure supply stores. We'll assemble our bikes and be ready for the journey in the afternoon.

Day 2 - Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour.

You will be driven to the old city of Bhaktapur after a quick breakfast at the hotel. Your guide will show you around the city and take you to the important religious squares that are on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Upon completing the city tour, lunch will be provided, and a short 2-hour bike ride will follow.

On the trails, which will be hilly, you will see paddy fields and the quiet forest of Phulchowki. You will finish in Godawari which is well known for its botanical gardens, rich wildlife and evergreen forests, giving you a real sense of tranquility.

Day 3 - Cycling Kathmandu to Nuwakot.

Due to the heavy traffic in Kathmandu, the beginning of the journey will begin slowly. Your guide will lead the way, so stay on the left side of the road and pay attention to directions. Tokha, a small Newari cultural town, is the initial stop. After climbing for 45 minutes to one hour to reach the summit, 17 kilometers of downhill await. If you are a skilled/experienced rider, you can go off-road, but we advise beginners to stay on the track. Thereafter, there is a brief stretch of level terrain followed by 10 kilometers of undulating terrain until the river crossing. Your meal will be located alongside a river. The last ascent to the summit of Nuwakot takes almost an hour. Nuwakot is a lovely, peaceful area to watch the sunset from. Explore the city if you have the time; there is a palace (Darbar) from where our Great-great King Prithivi Narayan Saha intended to conquer Kathmandu Valley.

Day 4 - Cycling Nuwakot to Dhadingbesi.

The journey begins with a steep descent towards the village of Trisuli. From here, you will ride for around one hour over undulating terrain, and then there is a significant ascent to Samari Bhanjyang. (Bhanjyang translates to 'hilltop' and phedi means 'foothills') Keep snacks in your bag because there is no perfect lunch, so you might have noodle soup for lunch. The ascent and descent to Dhadingbesi continues. Here, you can appreciate the vista of Ganesh Himal (6800m) and Manaslu Himal (8000+m), as well as the children greeting you with namaste or hello along the walk.

Day 5 - Cycling Dhadingbesi to Gorkha.

Today's journey begins with a 400-meter ascent, and is essentially up and down all the way to Gorkha. To reach Gorkha, you will go via local villages, farms, and forests. Gorkha is a more populous city than Dhadingbesi. Explore the palace and museum of our Great-great King Prithivi Narayan Saha, who was instrumental in the formation of modern-day Nepal.

Day 6 - Cycling Gorkha to Bandipur.

The route begins with a period of downhill off-road cycling. The remainder of the journey consists of continued ups and downs. 50% of today's route is unpaved and 50% is paved. There is one significant ascent to Bandipur, which will conclude the journey for today. Banipur is a Newari-cultural city renowned for its old-style dwellings, gorgeous environment, sunsets and sunrises, and 300-kilometer panorama of mountain ranges!

Day 7 - Cycling Bandipur to Pokhara.

The journey begins with a period of downhill terrain before continuing up and down to Pokhara. After Damauli, we must travel a major route; therefore, be cautious, stay on the left side of the road, and listen to your instructions. After Kathmandu, Pokhara is the second largest city in Nepal. It has a great ambiance and is enjoyable to visit for several days. There is a lake named Fewa lake where boating is permitted. There are also breathtaking views of the Annapurna Alps and Mount Fishtail from all points within the city.

Day 8 - Free day in Pokhara for Relaxation.

There are many things to do in Pokhara. From a relaxing row across the Phewa Tal lake to an exciting 30-minute paragliding flight from the famous Sarankot view point.

Day 9 - Travel back to Kathmandu.

After breakfast, we take a short flight back to Kathmandu. After arrival in Kathmandu, hotel transfer and you'll have time to look for souvenirs or visit some of the city's temples and other interesting places.

Day 10 - Departure from Nepal.

Today we will take you to the airport to catch your flight out of Nepal. Alternatively, if you'd like to stay longer, we may make additional travel arrangements to assist you continue your cycling experience.
